Tending Your First Garden Seeds: Simple Steps for Sacred Moments
Hi friend, Jennifer here again. After our first exploration of finding safety in God's garden, I've been touched by how many of you shared your initial garden experiences with me. Today, let's dig a little deeper (garden pun intended!) into making these sacred moments part of your daily life.
When Your Garden Feels New
Remember when you first planted something? Maybe it was a tiny succulent or some herbs in your kitchen window. Those first days required such tender attention - checking the soil, ensuring proper light, waiting for any sign of growth. Our spiritual garden moments can feel the same way.
If you're like many women beginning this journey, you might be thinking:
"I tried the visualization, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right."
"My art attempt looks like a child drew it."
"I feel silly talking to Jesus this way."
Can I share something? Those uncertain feelings are actually beautiful signs of new growth. Just like a seed pushing through soil for the first time, you're breaking new ground in your relationship with Jesus.
Simple Next Steps
Let's build on what we started last week with some gentle practices:
1. Morning Garden Moments
Instead of diving straight into your phone, take 3 minutes to:
• Whisper "Good morning" to Jesus
• Notice one beautiful thing
• Thank Him for new mercy
2. Midday Peace Pause
During lunch or a coffee break:
• Close your eyes for 30 seconds
• Picture your safe garden space
• Take three deep breaths
• Remember Jesus is present
3. Evening Garden Review
Before sleep:
• Recall one moment you felt God's peace
• Note it in your journal
• Thank Him for being your gardener
When It Feels Hard
Maybe you tried last week's exercises and felt... nothing. Or your mind wandered. Or old hurts surfaced. Sweet friend, this is normal. Real gardens have weeds, dry spells, and slow growth. Your spiritual garden will too.
Remember:
• Jesus isn't grading your efforts
• Every tiny step counts
• Growth happens underground first
• You're exactly where you need to be
This Week's Garden Gift
I've created a simple "Garden Moments" tracker for you (linked here). It's a gentle way to notice God's presence throughout your day - no pressure, just possibility.
Next week, we'll explore what to do when storms come to your garden. Until then, keep tending those precious seeds of connection with Jesus.
With hope and joy,
Jennifer
